Well said, Ray! A huge loss for Rep. Payne’s friends and family, and also for his constituents, New Jersey, and the rest of the country from our delegation in the House of Representatives. He will be sorely missed, and “What would Donald Payne think?” will remain a touchstone.
My condolences to those who knew and worked with him.

This all sounds wonderful on paper, but how do you explain what happened to that plan in Massachussetts? I notice you conspicuously neglected to mention MA’s disaster plan. And explain why over 60% of the country are against Obama-care. Don’t tell either that the public has been misinformed. Medicare is a wonderful plan, except that the government is mishandling it badly, and you want that same type of plan for everyone, and you think it will be cost effective. I refer you back the MA plan!

Mr. Gribbin has little understanding of socialized medicine. Socialized medicine is when hospitals are owned by the government,and the doctors as well as the associated staff are employed by the government as salaried employees. You don’t have to look very far for an example of socialized medicine here in the U.S., it’s called the Veterans Administration, and while it’s not perfect, I’m happy our veterans have the VA.
Mr. Gribbin, If your looking for rationing and death panels you can find it in the denials of the “for profit” health care industry. You can pay, co- pay, and pay some more, you earned it! Because your an ill informed fear monger.

I read Ray stever’s op-ed in the Times of Trenton today, and agree completely. However, I think you fail to address another problem. Physicians today are reimbursed by Medicare at approximately 30% on their charges. If Medicare payments were raised to 75-80% of billing, almost every physician, instead of fighting reform, would sign on the dotted line. The advantages of reduced paper work, decreased personal to handle claims forms, with more money coming back for their work would be a win-win for everyone. Fraser Lewis, M.D.

What a croc of liberal utopian bs. The only reason Medicare’s overhead is only 3% is because they shift the expense to private insurance companies. Not paying medical professionals at a competitive rate shifts the burden of that costs onto the private industry via higher charges for insured patients. Typical liberal bullshit.

I’d rather deal wirth an insurance company that some faceless government burecrat deciding that I’m too old to be provided with certain services or procedues. That’s exactly how things are rationed in other socialists utopias around the world. Take your liberal socialts medicine and shove it.

Also, recently, we have gone into other communities to help with their HR676 rallies and events.
